DIY PRADA MARFA SIGN

This Prada Marfa DIY is perfect for that empty wall space and adds a chic element in any room that you place it in.
For this DIY you will need:
  • A canvas (Mine was 30" by 24")
  • black acrylic paint
  • a ruler
  • a pencil
  • a printer

Use a picture of the actual Prada Marfa sign as a reference to achieve the right proportions. So for easy measuring, print out a Prada Marfa sign (unless you prefer measuring your computer screen). So the proportions of the actual piece of paper and my canvas was about 1:3. So now measure the height of the letters and multiply it by your proportion ratio. So the letters in "PRADA" according to my reference had a height of about 1.7". I multiplied it by "3" and got a height of 5" for my canvas. So make the "PRADA" letters 5 inches tall, print, and cut them out. This will be your stencil. Follow the same steps for the rest of the wording.
Measure the distance between the edge of the paper and the letters on your reference sheet. Then use your proportion ratio to find the placement of the letters on your canvas. Draw a straight line using your ruler, so you don't outline your letters crookedly.

The next few steps are more simple and straight foreword. I promise. Simply use the letters that your just printed out as a stencil.

Then you can go ahead and paint the letters using the black acrylic paint. Let it dry for a few hours and use a sharpie to touch up any crooked lines.
Now you can hang up your new piece and think "That was easier than I thought."
